Words, thoughts and topics I never thought in my lifetime I would ever hear my country’s president utter. . .
That he would purposely sabotage an election by tampering with the Postal Service.
That white supremacists were very fine people.
That he would see about whether or not he would leave office if he was defeated at the ballot box.
That he had nothing positive to say about the death of a civil rights leader because that leader did not attend his inauguration.
That he preferred soldiers who weren’t caught and imprisoned.
That - if a foreign entity was listening - the foreign entity should interfere in America’s elections.
That he believed a foreign adversary over his own intelligence services.
That he supported conspiracy theory after conspiracy theory after conspiracy theory.
That every strong woman who confronts him is ‘nasty’.
That he couldn’t possibly have groped, raped or molested someone because they were not his type or they were not a “10”.
That a Black supporter was “his African American”.
That literally everything and anything not favorable to him was “fake news”.
That windmills cause cancer.
That he knows more about anything than any expert in whatever field is in question, including multi-star generals.
That a virus circulating the globe and identified as a pandemic would “miraculously disappear”.
That no one realized how difficult it would be to bring affordable health care to the masses.
That he deserves a “mulligan” for his first term and that maybe he would stay on for a term or two more.
That he wished someone likely guilty of sex-trafficking “well”.
None of these were gaffes. In terms of personality, we may as well have elected one of the characters who sat at the end of the bar in the television series “Cheers”. Or Bart Simpson.
Michelle Obama had this to say in her Democratic National Convention speech on Monday night:
So let me be as honest and clear as I possibly can. Donald Trump is the wrong president for our country. He has had more than enough time to prove that he can do the job, but he is clearly in over his head. He cannot meet this moment. He simply cannot be who we need him to be for us. It is what it is.
On Twitter, a comment that is often used is “I’ll bet you didn’t have [such-and-such] on your bingo card!” I didn’t have any of the aforementioned comments on my bingo card, except maybe the misogynist musings.
Michelle Obama also said in her speech she had been pondering empathy and our current president’s lack thereof and it is staggering to look back over the past few years and think about the negative space created by the executive branch of our government.
No empathy. No positive role modeling. No tact. No restraint. No decorum.
All negative space.
Negative space, bile and obsequiousness from a legion of sycophants.
And to think of all the pearl-clutching over a president fooling around in the Oval Office. If only times were that simple again.

I’d encourage you to watch the ‘virtual’ DNC Convention tonight. I have never been to a real convention and I would not typically spend any time watching these sorts of things but Tuesday night’s edition was educational, informational and inspirational. I think they should never return to in-person conventions. I especially enjoyed watching all 50 states and the various territories announce their delegate tally during the roll call.
Under normal circumstances, this is a dull endeavor in a convention hall but seeing how each state/territory staged their announcement and the delivery and who delivered the remarks was, at times, heart-warming, unintentionally comical or meaningful. The introduction of Dr. Jill Biden was also enlightening and stirring.
Anyway, I found it a good way to spend part of my evening.
Tonight’s lineup features Kamala Harris, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Elizabeth Warren and Nancy Pelosi.
Also, some of you might be in the right mind set to appreciate these comics. They’re pretty subtle.
